Great California Shakeout--Success!
October 19th was the great California shakeout. Every child in the state at the same time goes through their emergency earthquake drill. This was great practice for students and staff in case of the unexpected. Here are a few photos. It was record time as well!!!!

School Site Council
This Thursday right after school is our SSC meeting. This board is an advisory board to the principal on financial issues. We want to welcome Kacey Caputo, Marian Marshall, Brenda Bailey-Burkes, Wendy Fransk, and Liz Ward to the team. As community members you may not be able to vote in these meeting but you are more than welcome to attend. 2:30 in the Media Center.

Teacher Feature!!

Keith Devore: Math and Government

Keith did an amazing lesson in Government on population and social issue spikes. Children were engaged because the content was relevant and real world. He used data to forefront the conversation and students were in pods of four even though he had desks that are traditionally in rows. Kids had amazing hypotheses on why they thought the spike in issues were occurring. Great Job Keith!!!!

Foundation Meetings
The next Foundation meeting is November 1 at 630 in the Media Center.

Instructional Leadership Team
I met with my ILT and in addition spoke to my staff about the importance of helping students who are struggling or just need that extra push. We need to communicate all the great things we are doing to help children on this campus and that includes answering emails on time, returning calls, and offering anytime you are willing to tutor. We may not be able to control everything in a child's life but we can make a positive difference between 720 and 230. Success also may not look the same for every student but our relationships with them should be priority.

Grading Period is Over!
Progress reports were given to your children this past Friday. Please make sure you ask them for it. If they say they forgot or don't have it please contact their period 4 teacher or check Parent Portal.
